Kaiju Julehjerter Instructions

This year's holiday card is based on Scandanavian paper heart ornaments, but you know, with kaiju.  One of our neighbors when I was really young was from Denmark and I remember little woven paper hearts on our tree cut from wrapping paper.

First, cut out Godzilla, and MechaGodzilla, keeping them folded, and not cutting them into two pieces at the fold.

Next, still keeping them folded, cut along the dotted lines.

Now you will weave them together leading with the folded edges of the tabs you have cut.  On the back the tab pieces are labeled A, B & C, and 1, 2 & 3.  Weave them in order like a basket - the trick is to insert them into each other as you weave when it is time to go behind the front piece, rather than simply putting the "back" strip behind the "front" strip.

You'll know you're doing it correctly if you can open up the inside of the holiday heart just like a basket. When you are done, you can tape or glue a strip of folded paper or ribbon to the inside of each side to hang up your ornament, and put (small, light) things like candy or nuts inside if you want!
